Maxine, 55

Are all I need to keep me happy, confident and satisfied. Professionally, that is. I’m talking about my work on building sites as project manager, where I’m always impressed with the blokes I get to work with. Their reliability, humour, intelligence and know-how make the jobs a regular pleasure. It’s not just the muted screech of a drop-saw in the morning that gets me going. The banter, interaction and cooperation from the fellas on the jobs keep me coming back.

A love of interiors, design and building got me into the business (which itself became a bit like a never-finished renovation during the child-rearing years). But like the builds, with the next project always on the horizon, I’m eager for my next life chapter.

A settled, easy-going type, I find pleasure in the oddball, the strange and the unconventional. You’ve read it before on this site, but I actually do enjoy a country drive. But in my antique British sports car, that can be a gamble, as getting home again is never guaranteed. Plus it’s the type of car you think you want, until you drive it. Then you’ll be happy you bought a Hyundai.

The customers who call in to the op-shop where I volunteer are a regular delight. I find some of the best and funniest conversations I have are in the shop. I still don’t know if the guy who asked if we had a pair of shoes in a different size was joking or not.

The op-shoppers may come from everywhere, and my work colleagues in many dependable shades, but there’s one more yet to come. The one who’ll have my back and who I’ll back, because a life shared between two is a life more than doubled.

What I’m Looking For

You’re big enough to value the little things: the coffee dates, the affection, the kind word and the careful step. You value the world around us. You have an open, comforting ear and you appreciate time spent together, as you spend just enough on your own to crave being with me!
